ROSEMOUNT YOUTH COMMISSION
REGULAR MEETING PROCEEDINGS
April 22, 2015
CALL TO ORDER
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Rosemount Youth Commission was
th
held on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at 3:45 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 2875 145
Street West, Rosemount.
Commissioner Revanur called the meeting to order with Youth Commissioners Corrigan, DeMuth,
Munson, Revanur, Saal, and Wuellner present. Staff Liaison Foster, Council member Debettignies,
former Council member Shoe-Corrigan and Recording Secretary Harrington were present. Youth
Commissioners Dennis, Hinderaker, Radosevich, Schalliol, Wick and Yambing were absent.
Council member Weisensel arrived at 3:50 p.m. Commissioner Wuellner left at 4:30 p.m. and
Commissioner Munson left at 4:45 p.m.
ADDITIONS OR CORRECTIONS TO AGENDA
Motion by Revanuer. Second by Wuellner.
Motion to Adopt the Agenda.
Ayes: 6
Nays: 0. Absent: 6. Motion carried.
AUDIENCE INPUT
Mark Debettignies addressed the Youth Commission and explained that he was there to support the
commission.
CONSENT AGENDA
Motion by Revanur. Second by Wuellner.
Motion to approve the Consent Agenda.

OLD BUSINESS
None
NEW BUSINESS
6.a. Fire Department Presentation
Assistant Fire Chief Voelker gave an overview of services, service area, demographics, equipment,
and training for the department. Also discussed were the various community outreach services
provided by the department. The Rosemount Fire Department is a volunteer department and while
there is compensation for training and calls, it is not a full-time job. Firefighter applicants must be
18 years of age and have completed a High School Diploma. The Explorer program may be coming
back in the near future.
6.b. Roundtable Discussion
Revanur recently went to California to visit University of California, Irvine and reports she is still
deciding on a college for next year.
Wuellner reported being recognized for winning a Minnesota Department of Health competition for
Suicide Awareness Voices of Education public service announcement.
Saal advised that watching his brother play rugby is very fun and would recommend it.
Corrigan reported working on costumes for the upcoming performance Onstage at Rosemount
High School.
Demuth shared that with activities for the year winding down she now finds herself with more time
for doing homework.
Foster reported that the 2015-2016 Youth Commissioners were appointed at the Council meeting
the previous evening.
Weisensel requested the group respond to a question regarding expense requests made of the City.
First: to indicate whether or not they would approve the expenditure with a yes or no.
Second: to rank the expenditures in order of importance from 1 to 4.
Third: to indicate why they would support their first choice.
$3,000 for Community Band
$8,500 for Leprechaun Days Fireworks
$120,000 for Art Project for the Steeple Center (lighting the steeple and façade)
$1M for a Turf Athletic Field (soccer and LAX)
Results were to be returned to Weisensel at the conclusion of the meeting.
REPORTS
7.a. Commission Member Reports
Saal was the only member from the small group for Increasing Youth Job Opportunities in
attendance and deferred an update to Chair Dennis at a future date.
7.b. Next Meeting Date
The next meeting of the Youth Commission is scheduled for May 27, 2015 at 3:45 p.m. at City Hall.

It was also announced that May 2 is Arbor Day which is an opportunity for the Youth
Commissioners to participate in handing out trees to residents at 10:00 a.m. at the Public Works
Building on Brazil Avenue.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to discuss, it was moved by Revanur and seconded by Corrigan that
the meeting be adjourned. The motion carried unanimously and the meeting was adjourned at
4:49 p.m.
