Park Improvement Fund Balance as of August 31, 2015: $558,292.82 Inflows to the Park Improvement Fund last month were as follows: Dedication fees—$ 220,453.58 GYants/OtheY- $0 Interest- $1,509.69 Donations - $0 Expenditures - $4,428.00 (Architect fees fox Erickson Park Tennis Courts and Prestwick Park) SORR Who Done It Hike -The 25`'' annual SORR Who Done It Hike was held on Saturday, September 12, at Ritter Farm Park in Lakeville. 174 participants played Sherlock Holmes by collecting clues,gathering information and solving mysteries,while walkixig the scenic trails at Ritter Farm Park. The families enjoyed a beautiful morning hike and a picnic lunch following the event. This event is one of many collaborative events offered through SORR (South of the River Recreators) consisting of the Paxks and Recxeation Departments of Apple Valley,Burnsville,Eagan,Farinington,Lakeville,Rosemount and Savage. Splash Pad-The Central Park splash pad closed for the season on Friday, September 18. The splash pad was open a litde longer this year due to the warm temperatures this month. Prestwick Park-The City recendy received bids for the final phase of the Prestwick Park project which will include final grading,baseball field, sun shelter, trails, color coating of the basketball court, seeding and landscaping. There are also two bid alternates for the project.The fixst bid alternate is a trail fYom the parking lot to the ball field and the second bid alternate is a trail at the northwest end of the park that provides a pedestrian connection from Ailesbury Way to Connemara Trail. The engineer's estimate for the base bid of the project is $240,016.25 and the total for the two bid alteYnates was estimated at $17,125.00.The project includes a 10% contingency which brings the total project cost estimate to �282,855.38. runding foi the project�vill come from the City's paik impYovement fund which is primaril� funded through the collection of parks dedication fees. The project�vas bid as per the Cit��'s purchasing policy and also advertised at local builders e�changes. We also sent the adverusement for bid to several contractors �vho specialize in constiucting park projects. Staff is planning for�vork on the project to start this fall and be completed early next spring. The Cit�received seven bids for the project and they aYe listed in the bid tabulation table below. Eagle Scout Project -Jarrett Kottsmith, an Eagle Scout candidate from Troop 235, repaired and repainted the t�vo storage buildings at Shannon Park as his �agle Scout Project. Jarrett and his crew removed and replaced damaged trim boards, built a ne�v ramp to the door, and painted the buildings. They did a very nice job and the builclings look great.
