BACKGROUND
In April Officer Tabaka resigned with the Rosemount Police Department and relocated to Iowa; this
created a vacant officer position. The Police Department completed an extensive testing process for
police officer to fill the vacancy. Officer Stephen Johnson was selected to fill the vacancy and started with
the Rosemount Police Department on May 26, 2015.
Officer Johnson grew up and graduated high school in Bloomington. Officer Johnson earned a Bachelor’s
of Science degree in Law Enforcement from Mankato State University; where he graduated Summa Cum
Laude. Although Officer Johnson has been an Explorer with the Bloomington Police Department and a
Reserve with the North Mankato Police Department, this is his first police officer job.
Officer Johnson has completed his Field Training Program and we are excited to see him succeed as a
Rosemount Police Officer.
