RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to approve the expenditure of funds from the
Rosemount Fire Department donation account to purchase two Stihl brand utility saws and
three sets of Honeywell turnout gear.
SUMMARY
The council is asked to consider the expenditure of$9,100.00 from the donation account for
the purchase of two Stihl brand chain saws and three sets of Honeywell turnout gear. The
purchase of these saws and turnout gear will be utilized to replace worn saws on finro of the
Rosemount Fire engines and to outFit three new firefighters with gear.
The money for this purchase was made possible from a donation by CF Industries. This
donation was made to the Fire Department in September of 2015, specifically to be used for
the purchase of these saws and turnout gear. Quotes were sent to CF Industries
documenting the purchase price of these items and the donation amount reflects those
quotes. Attached is a copy of the proposal letter that was sent to CF Industries on June 16,
2015.

Subject: Request letter
Dear Mr. Dohmen,
At your request, I am supplying you with two quotes regarding items that would greatly benefit
the Rosemount Fire Department. The first item would be additional Honeywell turnout gear that
would be assigned to new firefighters that were recently added to the department. Currently
these firefighters are utilizing outdated and used gear. The cost per set of turnout gear is
2,200.00, see attached quote.
The second item that would be a big asset to the department would be the addition of two Stihl
MS362C-Q brand chainsaws. These saws would be placed on each of the Rosemount Fire
Department initial attack engines and utilized to gain access to roof and building areas as well as
other applications. The cost per Stihl saw is $1,277.79, see attached quote.
We truly appreciate CF Industries once again reaching out to the Rosemount Fire Department for
equipment needs. Past purchases of equipment that were made possible by CF Industries the
past few years have really changed our effectiveness on how we do business!
