Commendation for achievement of Eagle Scout rank EXECUTIVE SUMMARY City Council Regular Meeting: October 20, 2015 AGENDA ITEM: Commendation for attainment of Eagle Scout rank AGENDA SECTION: Presentations PREPARED BY: William H. Droste, Mayor AGENDA NO. 3.a. ATTACHMENTS: APPROVED BY: ddj RECOMMENDED ACTION: Presentation of certificate of commendation Rosemount is fortunate to have a large number of young people who reach the highest levels of Scouting programs. The “Eagle Scout” designation is the highest advancement rank for Boy Scouts. About seven percent of Scouts complete the work to achieve the ranking. It requires progressing through the stages of Scouting beginning with “Tenderfoot,” and performing the work to earn 21 merit badges. Eagle Scouts also must plan, develop, and give leadership to a service project for any religious organization, school, or community. The City Council tonight continues its tradition of honoring these accomplishments by commending a Rosemount student who achieved the Eagle rank. Brett Diver led a landscaping project for his church in Apple Valley. It involved digging out a space that was three feet by 400 yards. He planted grass, mulched the area, and weeded it. Brett is a senior at Rosemount High School. He is interested in studying engineering after graduation and is considering options in the military and at colleges.
