BACKGROUND
The Trimble R8 GNSS RTK Rover 450-750 MHz GPS kit is proposed to be declared surplus property.
The kit includes a pole-mounted receiver and a handheld input device (asset tag numbers 001752, 001753
and 001755). This kit was purchased in 2006 for $26,575.
Staff is planning to purchase a replacement unit for an estimated net cost of $3,439.80 (after trade-in of the
existing unit). The funding will be split between the Streets, Parks, Water Utility, Sewer Utility, and Storm
Utility funds. The new unit will have updated technology and user-friendly features that the current unit
does not have. Staff will utilize the new unit for locating and performing inventories of numerous assets
including street signs, irrigation valves, soccer field corners, and all utility structures (gate valves, curb
stops, etc.).
SUMMARY
Staff is requesting that City Council declare the Trimble R8 GNSS RTK Rover 450-750 MHz GPS Unit as
surplus property, and authorize the trade-in as described above.
