ATTACHMENTS: None APPROVED BY: ddj RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to Declare GPS Unit as Surplus Property and Authorize Trade-In BACKGROUND The Trimble R8 GNSS RTK Rover 450-750 MHz GPS kit is proposed to be declared surplus property. The kit includes a pole-mounted receiver and a handheld input device (asset tag numbers 001752, 001753 and 001755). This kit was purchased in 2006 for $26,575. Staff is planning to purchase a replacement unit for an estimated net cost of $3,439.80 (after trade-in of the existing unit). The funding will be split between the Streets, Parks, Water Utility, Sewer Utility, and Storm Utility funds. The new unit will have updated technology and user-friendly features that the current unit does not have. Staff will utilize the new unit for locating and performing inventories of numerous assets including street signs, irrigation valves, soccer field corners, and all utility structures (gate valves, curb stops, etc.). SUMMARY Staff is requesting that City Council declare the Trimble R8 GNSS RTK Rover 450-750 MHz GPS Unit as surplus property, and authorize the trade-in as described above.
