Park Improvement Fund Balance as of February 28, 2016: $413,851.73 Inflows to the Park Improvement Fund last month were as follows: Dedication fees—$3,400 GYants/OtheY- $0 Interest- $3,599.13 Donations -$0 Expenditures - $3,149.80 (Cost planning for UMore Ball Fields) Hockey Tournament-The Rosemount Area Hockey Association (R.AHA) hosted the Squirt B District 8 Tournament�om Maxch 6— 13 at the Rosemount Ice Arena.Teams from Cottage Grove,Eastview, Apple Valley,Rosemount,Lakeville,Woodburp, Farmington, Hastings,Sibley Area, Inver Grove Heights, South St. Paul&Eagan competed in this tournament. Family Fun Fest—The Rosemount Parks and Recreation Department sponsored a night of FREE family fun night on Friday, February 26. Many families came out and enjoyed the activities that included live music,an infla.table obstacle course,jumpy,carnival games and indoor ice ska,ting.Approximately 200 kids and their families attended. Staff from the Community Development and Parks and Recreation Departments were on hand to discuss the comprehensive guide pla,n upda,te with the adults that were at the event. Tree Removal- Our Public Works crews have been taking advantage of the nice weathex recently and are removing ash trees from parks and boulevaxds.This is being done as part of our ongoing pxogram to preemptively remove ash trees from public spaces and xepla.ce them with other varieties.T'his does not slow the spread of the emerald ash borer (EAB) but it does reduce the number of trees susceptible to this pest. Now that EAB has been found in Eagan and Apple Valley it becomes more likely that we will soon be dealing with the pest here in Rosemount. Changes to the Parks and Recreation Commission—Starting in April of 2016,the Parks and Recreation Comxnission will be growing from five to seven members.The two new members have been appointed to two year terms and the two returning members have been appointed to three yea,Y terms.
