RECOMMENDED ACTION: Consider appointment process for Youth Commission applicants
BACKGROUND
The City of Rosemount Youth Commission has received 16 applications for the next term of the
Youth Commission. Eight of these are current Youth Commissioners who have reapplied to serve
on the Commission. According to Commission bylaws, the term shall run between the May
Annual meetings of each year. The Commissioners may be reappointed.
As you can see by the attached spreadsheet:
8 Returning Commissioners would include:
2 sophomores (includes one male)
3 juniors (includes one male)
3 seniors (includes one male)
8 New Commissioner Candidates:
2 sophomores
1 junior (includes one male)
5 seniors (includes one male)
The next Youth Commission meeting is on Wednesday, April 27th. The May meeting is the final
meeting of outgoing commissioners and the first meeting for the new commissioners. It is
scheduled for Wednesday, May 25th so we would want new commissioners appointed before that
day.
RECOMMENDATION
The Council should consider options for appointing the Youth Commission candidates including
(1) schedule interviews with the candidates, (2) have a meet and greet/pizza party to meet the
candidates, or (3) review the written applications and appoint all of the 16 candidates without any
further process.
