The Comprehensive Plan defines the expected residential, commercial and industrial development and contains forecasts for population, household and employment gYowth through the yeax 2030. One important chapter in that plan is the Park, Trails and Open Space Master Plan, which was la,st upda, ted in 2008. The 2008 Parks System Plan is intended to act as a user-friendly guide to decision ma,king regarding the futuxe needs, development, renovation and preservation of Rosemount's parks, trails and open spaces. The city recognizes that demographic, recreation and environmental trends will change over the next several yeaxs and those changes will affect paxk, ttail and open space needs. The plan will help set the framework for these future improvements and will incxease efficiency by esta, blishing a long-term vision and pxiorities. A series of user group meetings and public open houses axe typically held to gathex information to assist with the upda,te of the plans. Sta.ff is expecting the same sort of input with this upda,te but we will most likely try to get out to a few paxks to get resident and park user input with regard to the future of oux parks. Sta.ff would like for the Commissioners to bring theix copy of the Parks,Trails and Open Space Master Pla.n to the meeting so that we can begin xeviewing the document and discussing a process for upda, ting it.
