RECOMMENDED ACTIONS: Motion to Adopt a Resolution Authorizing Advertisement for
Bids for Safe Routes to School, Engineering Project 0180
BACKGROUND:
On April 5, 2016, the Rosemount City Council received the plans and specifications for this effort and
ordered the Safe Routes to School Project, Engineering Project 0180.
The Shannon Elementary School project plans to construct an 8’ wide bituminous trail to connect the
existing trail along Shannon Parkway to the south side of the school campus and install a LED crosswalk
sign at Evermoor Parkway and Gregg’s Circle. The 144th Street project plans to construct a minimum 5’
wide concrete sidewalk from Chili Avenue to Cameo Avenue.
Advertisements for bid will appear in the Rosemount Town Pages and Finance & Commerce on May 26,
2016 and June 2, 2016. Bids will be opened on June 21, 2016. The advertisement and bid opening dates
may be subject to changes and are contingent on the timeline for final state and federal approvals.
It is anticipated that construction will begin in early July 2016 and anticipated to be completed by
September 2016.
SUMMARY:
Staff recommends Council authorize the advertising for bids for the Safe Routes to School Project,
Engineering Project 0180.

RESOLUTION 2016 -
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS FOR
SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL PROJECT
ENGINEERING PROJECT 0180
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Rosemount has ordered the improvements for the Safe Routes
to School, Engineering Project 0180 and such plans and specifications are on file in the office of the City
Clerk;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Rosemount, Minnesota:
1. The City Clerk shall prepare and cause to be inserted in the official City newspaper and the Finance
and Commerce an advertisement for bids upon the making of such improvements under such
approved plans and specifications for Engineering Project 0180.
3. The advertisement shall be published in each of said publications at least once not less than three (3)
weeks before the date set for opening bids, specified the work to be done, stated the bids would be
publicly opened on June 21, 2016 at 10:00 o’clock a.m. at the Rosemount City Hall in said City, and
that no bids would be considered unless sealed and filed with the City Clerk and accompanied by a
cash deposit, cashier’s check, bid bond or certified check payable to the City Clerk for five (5%)
percent of the amount of such bid.
4. Such advertisement for bids is hereby authorized by the Council.
