1. CALL TO ORDER: Eliason called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
2. ADDITIONS TO THE AGENDA: None.
3. APPROVAL OF THE MAY 22,2012 MEETING MINUTES: MOTION by Bartz to
approve the minutes of the May 22,2012 meeting. SECOND by Farrell. Ayes: 3 Nays: 0
Motion passed.
4. AUDIENCE INPUT: None
5. DISCUSSION (Response to Audience Input): None
6. OLD BUSINESS:
a. Brazil Avenue Paving Project—An upda,te on this project was included in this month's
packet. The update included the following: angled parking, curb and gutter,and a small
round-about to provide a turn-around for traffic leaving events. It was noted that the
cutrent road design has woxked well for 25-30 pears, and sta,ff feels that cars might continue
to turn axound in the parking lot. The project should begin in August and be completed by
mid-October. This was an update only. We are still working on the pla,ns/specs and hope
to have them soon. The Commission asked about the cost of the round-about. Schultz will
bring this information back to the next meeting. There was also brief discussion regarding
the pla.yground area and how it might be impacted. Per Schultz,the playground should not
be direcdy impacted. Schultz did suggest that we look at the possibility of moving it another
part of the park,enhancing it,adding netting, etc. The Commission also suggested having
signage along Brazil Avenue to let people know that thexe is a round-about ahead.
7. NEW BUSINESS:
a. Director's Report—The Paxks Improvement Fund Balance as of May 31,2012 was
$1,260,540.59. Dedication fees of$20,400 wexe received this month. Interest for the
month was $50.70. 'There were no donations. There were expenditures of$53,606.63 for
UMore ball field improvements -well drilling,UMore ba11 field plans/specs,future athletic
complex planning and Carroll's Wood Mapping.
UMore Remedial Investigation—A public forum will be held on June 28 at the Rosemount
Community Center to inform the public of the findings of the 2011 remedial investigation
study.

UMore Ball Field Project—On May 25,2012 the City received notice from the PCA that
after reviewing all of the infoxmation rega.Yding potential contamination of the site with Barr
Engineering, they have decided to take no futther action. It was recommended that a site
contingency plan be put together in case we do find something in the future.

Steeple Center Front Steps—Drawings for the replacement steps at the Steeple Center were
included in this month's packet. The City xeceived grant funds from the Dakota County CDA
for code upgrades and these funds will be used for the project.
Dakota County Greenways—The Commission discussed this item la.st month and
recommended that the City Council support the two greenway plans. The City Council did
approve both plans.
Cardio Tennis—On June 2,Rosemount Parks and Recreation hosted a free Cardio Tennis
progxam at Charlie's Park. This event was originally scheduled for June 16,but was cancelled
due poor weather.
Start of Summer Programs—Two days of sta.ff training were held in early June and our
summer programs are currently in full swing.
Spring Clean Up—The Spring Clean Up took place on Saturda.y,May 19. Staff serviced
292 vehicles,which was 40 fewex than in the spring of 2011. The high winds that day ma,y
have been a factor.
Letter from RAAA—Schultz handed out a letter the City recently xeceived from the
Rosemount Area Athletic Association (RAAA). The letter expressed appreciation for the
City Council's support and also included four requests: increasing green space for soccer,
la,crosse and football/baseball fields; developing an indoor facility with volleyball and
basketball courts;eliminating discussion by the City of a usex fee;and construction of up to
eight batting cages thxoughout the City. Schultz will discuss the batting cage issue with
them and get more information on that item. Schultz noted that in the past RAAA has
funded the construction of batting cages. Schultz will discuss the design with R.AAA. The
nets are supposed to be raised when not in use.
The Commission asked if Chaxlie's Park is la,rge enough for a tennis tournament. Per
Schultz,it is. Schultz gave a brief update regaxding the signage for Cas�oll's Woods;we are
waiting fox the QR code and the City's new website should be ready by August 1.
8. ADJOURNMENT - MOTION bp Bartz to adjourn the meeting. SECOND by Farrell.
