RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to Adopt a Resolution Receiving Bids and Awarding
the Contract for the Safe Routes to School Project, City Project ENG 180.
BACKGROUND:
On Tuesday, June 21, 2016, three bids were received for the Safe Routes to School Project and read aloud
publicly. The low bidder is Max Steininger, Inc. who submitted a base bid in the amount of $450,549.57.
The low base bid amount of $450,549.57 is 4.1% lower than the estimated construction cost of $469,700.
The project involves the construction of a 5’ sidewalk along the north side of 144th Street from Chili
Avenue to Cameo Avenue, an 8’ trail at Shannon Park Elementary School, and an LED crosswalk sign at
Evermoor Parkway and Creggs Circle.
It is anticipated that the portion of the work in front of Rosemount Elementary and Shannon Park
Elementary will be completed by September 2, 2016. The remaining work is anticipated to be completed
by September 30, 2016
SUMMARY:
Staff recommends that Council adopt the attached resolution receiving the bids and awarding the contract
to Max Steininger, Inc. for the Safe Routes to School Project, City Project ENG 180.

A RESOLUTION RECEIVING BIDS AND AWARDING CONTRACT
FOR THE SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL PROJECT
CITY PROJECT ENG 180
BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Rosemount, Minnesota, as follows:
1. All bids on construction of the Safe Routes to School Project are hereby received and
tabulated.
2. Based on the Base Bid, the bid of Max Steininger, Inc. in the amount of $450,549.57 for the
construction of said improvements is in accordance with the plans and specifications and
advertisement for bids, and is the lowest responsible bid and shall be and hereby is accepted.
3. The Mayor and Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to enter into a contract with said
bidder for the construction of said improvements for and on behalf of the City of Rosemount.
4. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to return forthwith to all bidders the deposits
made with their bids, except that the deposit of all successful bidder and the next two lowest
bidders shall be retained until a contract has been executed.
ADOPTED this 19th day of July, 2016.
