RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to Adopt a Resolution Authorizing the Preparation of
Plans and Specifications for City Hall Parking Lot Improvements, City Project ENG 188
BACKGROUND:
Options for improvements to the City Hall parking lot were discussed at the June 13, 2016 and July 11,
2016 City Council Work Sessions.
The improvements for the project include replacing the existing pavement and installing 4 inches of new
pavement, installing medians and railing to establish a dedicated police entrance, upgrading and replacing
sidewalks to ADA standards, improving drainage along the north side of City Hall, and adding additional
parking along the north side of the parking lot. The estimated total project cost with all options is
$425,000.
The estimated engineering fee for final design is $12,650. This includes the following activities:
Topographic survey
Preparation of plans and specifications
Estimates of construction cost
Preparation of bidding documents, advertisement for bids, and recommendations on award of bids
Based on the preliminary estimated construction cost of $338,000, this represents an estimated fee
percentage of 3.7%.
SUMMARY:
Staff requests Council approval of the attached resolution to authorize the preparation of plans and
specifications for City Hall Parking Lot Improvements, City Project ENG 188.

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PREPARATION OF THE PLANS AND
SPECIFICATIONS FOR CITY HALL PARKING LOT IMPROVEMENTS
CITY PROJECT ENG 188
WHEREAS, the City Council has deemed it necessary to complete improvements for City Hall Parking
Lot Improvements, City Project ENG 188; and
WHEREAS, the proposed project is deemed necessary.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Rosemount orders the
preparation of plans and specifications for said improvements of City Project ENG 188.
ADOPTED this 19th day of July, 2016.
