RECOMMENDED ACTION: Provide any comments to the CDA regarding their strategic planning
for future programs and projects.
BACKGROUND
The Community Development Agency of Dakota County (CDA) has hired a new Executive Director this
year who is Tony Schertler. The CDA Board is taking the opportunity to review all of its programs and
develop a strategic plan for the future. As a part of this effort, Mr. Schertler plans to visit with each city
individually to seek input. The CDA has built affordable senior housing projects (including the recently
opened Cambrian Commons in Rosemount) and also work force housing. They have various other
programs to support re-development projects and they are a major partner in the countywide broadband
initiative. Some questions they will pose include should they continue to build senior housing and
workforce housing projects? What role should the CDA have in area economic development activities?
RECOMMENDATION
After the presentation by the CDA, the Council should consider what comments it may have on the future
direction of the CDA and its programs.
