RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to approve the attached Resolution appointing
additional election judges for the 2016 General Election.
SUMMARY
Minn. Stat. 204B.21, Subd. 2, requires that all cities appoint election judges before the election. Staff
has recruited over 120 Rosemount and/or Dakota County residents to serve as election judges for
the 2016 general elections to date, and expect to continue to get more applications as the election
nears.
All judges are required to attend election judge training and equipment training courses.
CONCLUSION
Staff recommends approval of the above-referenced motion.

RESOLUTION 2016 - ___
RESOLUTION APPOINTING ADDITIONAL ELECTION JUDGES
FOR 2016 ELECTIONS
WHEREAS, Minnesota Statute 204B.21 requires the governing body of a municipality to
appoint election judges to serve in its precincts; and
WHEREAS, the Rosemount 2016 Election Judge appointments consists of individuals recommended by
the City Clerk with the approval of the majority of the City Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the general public listed below to serve as election
judges reside in in the State of Minnesota as required by Minnesota Election Laws and will be trained
according to Minnesota State Statutes:

NOW THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that pursuant to Minn. Stat. 203B.21,
additional judges may be appointed by the City Clerk if it is determined additional election judges will be
required.
ADOPTED this 18th day of October, 2016, by the City Council of the City of Rosemount.
