ATTACHMENTS: None APPROVED BY: ddj RECOMMENDED ACTION: Award commendations For the tenth time in 11 years, the Rosemount High School Marching Band has won the Minnesota state championship. As they have so many times before, these students and their supporters have brought attention and honors to their school and their community. The band won the state title last month during the Youth in Music championships in Minneapolis. Rosemount was judged Grand Champion ahead of other Minnesota competitors and visiting schools from Wisconsin and South Dakota. The band concluded its competition season with strong performances at the Bands of America Super Regional Marching Band championships in St. Louis. Rosemount won the Class AAA championship and placed seventh among all four classes, totaling 65 schools. It was the 12th time the Irish Marching Band reached the finals of the regional competition. As the band prepares for next season’s competitions, it will also prepare for its trip to perform at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade a year from now. Even outside of competitions, students stay busy with community performances and fundraising efforts, both for the band program and for groups like military families. Scheduled to attend tonight’s Council meeting on behalf of the students are Drum Majors: Collet Edgar Isabel Edgar Andrea Gordon and Adam Shew Band Directors: Leon Sieve Ben Harloff Bojan Hoover and Taylor Eliason
