For the tenth time in 11 years, the Rosemount High School Marching Band has won the Minnesota state
championship. As they have so many times before, these students and their supporters have brought
attention and honors to their school and their community.
The band won the state title last month during the Youth in Music championships in Minneapolis.
Rosemount was judged Grand Champion ahead of other Minnesota competitors and visiting schools from
Wisconsin and South Dakota.
The band concluded its competition season with strong performances at the Bands of America Super
Regional Marching Band championships in St. Louis. Rosemount won the Class AAA championship and
placed seventh among all four classes, totaling 65 schools. It was the 12th time the Irish Marching Band
reached the finals of the regional competition.
As the band prepares for next season’s competitions, it will also prepare for its trip to perform at the
Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade a year from now. Even outside of competitions, students stay busy with
community performances and fundraising efforts, both for the band program and for groups like military
families.
Scheduled to attend tonight’s Council meeting on behalf of the students are Drum Majors:
Collet Edgar
Isabel Edgar
Andrea Gordon and
Adam Shew
Band Directors:
Leon Sieve
Ben Harloff
Bojan Hoover and
Taylor Eliason
