ISSUE:
Consider adoption of Comprehensive Water Supply Plan.
BACKGROUND:
In 2004, the preparation of an update to the 1997 Comprehensive Water Supply Plan was authorized. The
schedule for the completion of this update was modified to coincide with the schedule for the work on the
42 Land Use Plan With the recent adoption of the 42 Land Use Plan, the approved land uses changes
have been incorporated into the final Comprehensive Water Supply Plan.
Following is an overview of the Plan highlights:
Current water system information
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Average day water demand is 2.0 MGD
Peak day water demand is 5.6 MGD
Municipal water system includes 7 wells with total capacity of 6,600 gpm
Three existing elevated storage tanks piovide 2,000,000 gallons storage capacity
Water treatment mcludes addition of chlorine, fluonde and polyphosphate at wells
Existing estimated population of 20,501
Future projected water system needs

Three new well fields proposed that will include up to 20 additional wells to meet projected
ultimate demand

SUMMARY:
The Plan has remained unchanged from the Plan provided to Council at the September 14, 2005 City
Council Work Session. Therefore, only the attached updated title pages are being provided to Council at
this time. Staff will provide a bnef overview of the Plan and respond to any questions that Council may
have.
Staff is recommending Council approval of the Comprehensive Water System Plan.

WHEREAS, the Rosemount Utility Conunission authorized the update of the Comprehensive Water
System Plan and recommend that the City Council adopt the Comprehensive Water Supply Plan, and
WHEREAS, City Council and City staff have reviewed the Plan and recommendation from the Rosemount
Utility Commission.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the City Council of the City of Rosemount adopts the
Comprehensive Water System Plan
