August 17, 2005 Don Chapdelame, Trustee SKB Environmental Rosemount Community Trust 575 Chapel Ln Eagan, MN 55121 Dear Mr. Chapdelame: This letter is to provide you with details of the request by the City of Rosemount for a grant from the SKB Environmental Rosemount Community Trust for purchase of banners to be installed on hght poles with a design that reflects the City's updated visual identity system. The Rosemount City Council approved a new visual identity system in November as part of its effort to market the community more effectively to potential residents and businesses. The system includes a new logo for the City that incorporates a shamrock theme with more contemporary graphics, and a new theme message, "Sport of Pride and Progress." Both the theme and logo are protected service marks of the Cny. They update previous marks m use since 1989. The old design currently appears on 80 banners attached to decorative hght poles along 145` Street and South Robert Trail in and near Downtown Rosemount. A few additional banners are near Cub Foods. Forty -three additional Downtown poles do not have banners or the required brackets to install them. Many of these poles are in key locations, such as near the new Rosemount Crossing retail development and near the area of Downtown selected for the first phase of redevelopment. As part of a contract for design services with Forte Consulting, the City obtained a number of banner designs to conform to the new visual identity system. City staff selected the preferred design, which includes on one side a shamrock on a green background with the logo superimposed vertically and on the other side the same shamrock background with the theme message superimposed. Banners will be installed so that the two sides appear alternately. Installation will be performed by Rosemount Pubhc Works employees at no additional cost. The City has ordered 130 banners from Display Sales Co. of Bloomington, Minn. The banners will be produced on low -glare nylon that carries a two -year warranty. The cost of the new banners is broken down m this way: 130 banners at $40 each $5,200.00 Art setup fees 370.00 Shipping 160.00 State sales tax 372.45 TOTAL $6,102.45 Most of the existing brackets are of an attractive green design that matches the color selected for City's visual identity system. Those brackets were supphed by NSP but are no longer available from its successor, Xcel Energy. The same brackets are available through Mountain State Lighting. Sincerely, Jamie Verbrugge City Administrator 43 bracket sets at $88 each incl. shipping $3,784.00 State sales tax 245.96 TOTAL $4,029.96 The total cost of new banners and brackets is $10,132 41.
