In order to better coordmate the purchase of equipment and response to emergencies, Dakota County and the cities within the county formed a Domestic Preparedness Committee several years ago. Through the Domestic Preparedness Committee, grant funds have been received that have been used to conduct training and to purchase supplies and equipment for participating agencies. On Thursday, September 15, from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. numerous pieces of public safety equipment will be displayed m the parking lot of the Dakota County Western Service Center located at County Road 42 and Galaxie Avenue m Apple Valley. The equipment will include mobile command posts, emergency response trailers, police squad cars, aerial and other fire rigs, and the response vehicle of the Dakota County Special Operations Team (SOT) Rosemount has two fire fighters as part of the SOT. In addition to the equipment, public safety personnel will be on hand to answer quesuons and demonstrate the equipment. Council is asked to pass the attached resolution in support of the Pubhc Safety Day. !CROSEMOUNT PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, the City of Rosemount is committed to Pubhc Safety; and WHEREAS, the Dakota County Domestic Preparedness Committee is made up of neighboring communities intent upon making the best use of pubhc safety resources; and WHEREAS, the U S. Department of Homeland Security and Minnesota Department of Pubhc Safety Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management have provided resources to improve pubhc safety capacity for pohttcal subdivisions of the State of Minnesota; and WHEREAS, community members of the Dakota County Domestic Preparedness Committee have received federal and state funding to improve our ability to respond to a variety of pubhc safety incidents; and WHEREAS, September has been dedicated by the U.S. Depaitnient of Homeland Security as National Preparedness Month. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Rosemount recognizes. September 15, 2005 as Public Safety Day ADMINISTRATION a clay to share the ways m which the communities par-ticipaung m the Dakota County Domestic Preparedness Committee are prepared to respond to a vanety of natural and man- made disasters.
