HomeMy WebLinkAbout3. DiscussionProvide a short paragraph summarizing why you are seeking an appointment to a Commission
in the City of Rosemount
I've taken some classes in interior, architectural and landscape design. The way a city is
designed intrigues me, and I'd like to learn more about urban planning from a closer, more
personal perspective. I would also like be involved in helping to make design decisions in the
community of Rosemount.
Briefly describe your background, experience and any other information not previously given
which you believe should be considered regarding the appointment you are seeking.
I've lived in Rosemount for eight years now. I've seen my individual neighborhood
grow up, as well as the surrounding community. It's been exciting to see the city take shape, and
it would be a great experience to be part of the molding process.
Although my education has been somewhat minimal regarding urban design specifically,
I have taken some landscape architecture classes at the University of Minnesota where I've
gained perspective on issues in the field. I've also been focusing on functional design my entire
life, whether I was playing with Legos, doodling in middle school, or using drafting tables and
Computer Aided Drafting software.
While attending the U of M I was involved in a co -ed fraternity, Kappa Kappa Psi, which
was dedicated to serving the University bands and the community Kappa meetings were run on
the Robert's Rules of Order, and gave me some insight on how to work in a strict, and somewhat
political, environment. Kappa also helped me work in both large group settings with the whole
chapter, and small group settings during committee meetings.
I recently heard about some positions opening up in the Planning Commission, and it
sounded like something I'd really enjoy. I hope you've learned some information about me that
you'll find useful, and contact me if you'd like to hear more. Thank you for your time.
