to fill the newly created positions of GIS Coordinator and Staff Engineer.

BACKGROUND
With the recent departure of two employees from the Engineering Division, Staff has been reviewing
the tasks performed by the Division and its related needs specifically related to the advancement of
the City's Geographic Information System (GIS) and development of an Asset Management Program.
As such, the Engineering Division has instituted a restructuring of employees' duties and has proposed
the ehmination of the two vacant positions of Senior Engineering Technician and Water Resource
Engineer in heu of the newly created positions of GIS Coordinator and Staff Engineer.
It is now requested that Council authorize staff to undertake the recruitment process for hiring these
new positions.
