HomeMy WebLinkAbout20151028 YCM Minutes ROSEMOUNT YOUTH COMMISSION REGULAR MEETING PROCEEDINGS October 28, 2015 CALL TO ORDER Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Rosemount Youth Commission was th held on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at 3:48 p.m. in the Council Chambers, 2875 145 Street West, Rosemount. Vice-Chairperson Radosevich called the meeting to order with Youth Commissioners Alex, Andrews, Busho, Corrigan, M. Demuth, S. Demuth, Munson, Radosevich, and Saal present. Staff Liaison Foster, Council Member Weisensel, former Council Member Shoe-Corrigan and Recording Secretary Anne Hayes were present. Commissioners Hinderaker, Schalliol, Westman, Wuellner, J. Yambing and J. Yambing were absent. ADDITIONS OR CORRECTIONS TO AGENDA Council Member Weisensel added Item 6.b. John Loch – Rosemount Area Arts Council to be discussed after Item 4. Motion by Radesovich. Second by Corrigan. Motion to Adopt the Agenda. Ayes: 9 Nays: 0. Absent: 6. Motion carried. AUDIENCE INPUT None. CONSENT AGENDA Motion by Radesovich. Second by Corrigan. Motion to approve the Consent Agenda. a. Minutes of September 23, 2015 Youth Commission Meeting Ayes: 9 Nays: 0. Absent: 6. Motion carried. NEW BUSINESS 6.b. John Loch - Rosemount Area Arts Council John Loch with the Rosemount Area Arts Council spoke to the Youth Commission about the Tree Lighting ceremony on Friday, December 4 starting at 6 pm. Volunteers should arrive around 5:30. He is asking for volunteers to help with finding singers and musicians, an emcee and refreshment servers. Commissioner Munson agreed to look for singers. Commissioners Corrigan and Andrews will seek out band participants. Commissioners S. Demuth and Busho will help with refreshments. Mr. Loch also informed the commission about the Star Wars event on January 16 and is asking for volunteers for that event as well. Volunteers are needed for crafts/games, security, registrations, etc. Anyone interested in these opportunities should contact Emmy Foster. The Commission agreed to participate in both events. OLD BUSINESS 5.a. Update on New Restaurants The Youth Commissioners were provided information regarding the potential construction of Chipotle/Arby’s Restaurants which include a drive-through and outdoor seating. Commissioners also reviewed the site plan for Culver’s. These items were recently in front of the Planning Commission. Weisensel updated the Commissioners and emphasized the employment and dining opportunities for the community. 5.b. Recreational Facilities Discussion In previous meetings the Youth Commissioners have been discussing potential capital projects and recreational facilities for the community. Many of these are being discussed at various city meetings and represented by various youth sports organizations. Weisensel asked the Youth Commissioners to individually rank and prioritize the various potential city projects. At the meeting the Commissioners broke into three small groups and again ranked their priorities. At one of the upcoming Youth Commission meetings, the group as a whole will prioritize the list to be presented to Council. NEW BUSINESS 6.a. Roundtable Discussion Each commissioner gave short updates regarding their various current activities. REPORTS 7.a. Commission Member Reports None. 7.b. Next Meeting Date The next meeting of the Youth Commission is scheduled for November 18, 2015 at 3:45 p.m. at City Hall. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business to discuss, it was moved by Radesovich and seconded by Munson that the meeting be adjourned.
