HomeMy WebLinkAbout20160928 YCM Minutes ROSEMOUNT YOUTH COMMISSION REGULAR MEETING PROCEEDINGS SEPTEMBER 28, 2016 CALL TO ORDER Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Rosemount Youth Commission was held on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at 3:46 p.m. in the Rosemount Community Center, Room 210, 13885 S. Robert Trail, Rosemount. Commissioner Schalliol called the meeting to order with Youth Commissioners Alex, Demuth, Edgar, Hinderaker, Johnson, Mitchell, Nelson, Peterson, Powell, Saal, Turner, Westman and Yambing present. Staff Liaison Foster, Parks and Recreation Director Dan Schultz, RAAC member Jeanne Schwartz, former Council Member Shoe-Corrigan and Recording Secretary Anne Hayes were also present. Commissioners Armstrong and Wuellner were absent. ADDITIONS OR CORRECTIONS TO AGENDA Motion Schalliol. Second by Peterson. Motion to Adopt the Agenda. Ayes: 14 Nays: 0. Absent: 2 Motion carried. AUDIENCE INPUT None. CONSENT AGENDA Motion by Schalliol. Second by Westman. Motion to approve the Consent Agenda. Ayes: 14 Nays: 0. Absent: 2. Motion carried. OLD BUSINESS None. NEW BUSINESS 7.a. RAAC Tree Lighting Event Staff Liaison Foster briefed the Youth Commission on information from RAAC. Jeanne Schwartz arrived later and continued the discussion of the Tree Lighting to be held in November. Youth Commissioners volunteered for various assignments. 7.b. Discussion of ideas with Parks & Recreation Director Director Schultz addressed Youth Commission on a potential Fall Bonfire to be held on October 14. Staff will look into the logistics and inform Commission members if the event is possible. Discussion also included a Skate Park update, tree markers/signage in city parks, and a Summer 2017 Splash Pad event. 7.c. Roundtable Discussion Each Commissioner gave a short statement regarding their various current activities, including sports, school projects and clubs, college applications, etc. REPORTS 8.a. Commission Member Reports None. 8.b. Next Meeting Date The next meeting of the Youth Commission is scheduled for October 26, 2016 at 3:45 p.m. in the Council Chambers. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business to discuss, it was moved by Schalliol and seconded by Yambing that the meeting be adjourned.
