ROSEMOUNT YOUTH COMMISSION
REGULAR MEETING PROCEEDINGS
JUNE 22, 2016
CALL TO ORDER
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Rosemount Youth Commission was
th
held on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at 3:48 p.m. in the Council Chambers, 2875 145 Street West,
Rosemount.
Commissioner Wuellner called the meeting to order with Youth Commissioners Armstrong,
Demuth, Edgar, Hinderaker, Mitchell, Nelson, Peterson, Powell, Saal, Turner, Westman, and
Yambing present. Staff Liaison Foster and Council Member Weisensel were also present.
Commissioners Alex, Johnson, Schalliol, and Turner were absent.
ADDITIONS OR CORRECTIONS TO AGENDA
Removal of item 3 Oath of Office; completed at last meeting.
Motion Wuellner. Second by Demuth.
Motion to Adopt the Agenda.

Motion by Wuellner. Second by Edgar.
Motion to approve the Consent Agenda.
a. Minutes of May 25, 2016 Youth Commission Meeting

Foster distributed a meeting calendar and advised that the Youth Commission meetings are typically
held the fourth Wednesday of the Month. The Commission decided to not have a meeting in July
since the Youth Commission joins the City Council at their booth during Leprechaun Days and in
the Parade.

7.a. Election of Officers
Following a brief description of officer duties by Weisensel, elections were held to determine the
officers of this year’s Youth Commission officers.
Chairperson
Commissioner Schalliol volunteered to serve as Chairperson. Foster read Schalliol’s letter of interest
since Schalliol was out of town on a mission trip.
Motion by Wuellner. Second by Peterson.
Motion to close nominations.
Ayes: 13
Nays: 0. Absent: 3. Motion carried.
Motion by Wuellner. Second by Demuth.
Motion to cast a unanimous ballot for Schalliol as Chairperson.
Ayes: 13
Nays: 0. Absent: 3. Motion carried.
First and Second Vice Chair

Commissioners Wuellner and Peterson were nominated as 1 Vice Chair. A paper ballot determined
the vote.
Motion by Wuellner. Second by Westman.
Motion to close nominations.

Nays: 0. Absent: 3. Motion carried.
Motion by Yambing. Second by Powell.
Motion to cast a unanimous ballot for Wuellner as First Vice Chair.
Ayes: 13
Nays: 0. Absent: 3. Motion carried.

Commissioners Peterson and Mitchell were nominated as 2 Vice Chair. A paper ballot determined
the vote.
Motion by Demuth. Second by Saal.
Motion to close nominations.

Motion to cast a unanimous ballot for Peterson as Second Vice Chair.

7.b. Youth Commission Events Discussion
Upcoming events include:
Park Bike Tour on Saturday June 25 at 8 a.m. Meet in the West Parking lot at the
Rosemount Community Center at 8 a.m.
Leprechaun Days – join the City Council at the Mid-Summer Faire Council Booth on Friday,

July 29 and Saturday, July 30. Also, at the Parada on Saturday, July 30. More
information will be sent out via email.

Night to Unite – Tuesday, August 2 at 6:30 p.m. More information will be sent out on this
as well.
Ribbon Cuttings – emails will be sent to the group regarding upcoming events.
Weisensel handed out goals worksheets. The group discussed last year’s goals and then broke into
three groups to work on short-term and long-term goals for this term.
7.c. Roundtable Discussion
Each Commissioner gave a short statement regarding their various current activities, including
summer plans, trips, extra-curricular activities, jobs, college visits, etc.

None.
8.b. Next Meeting Date
The next meeting of the Youth Commission is scheduled for June 22, 2016 at 3:45 p.m. in the
Council Chambers.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to discuss, it was moved by Wuellner and seconded by Yambing
that the meeting be adjourned. The motion carried unanimously and the meeting was adjourned at
5:08 p.m.
