Subject: City of Rosemount response to your concerns

Mr Pfaff,
Thank you for your patience as I've tracked down information relative to the concerns you expressed at the Rosemount City
Council meeting of July 5, 2005. I spoke with Mrs Pfaff yesterday while you were at work and she encouraged me to send an e-
mail to you
A majority of the street lights in Rosemount are owned and maintained by Xcel Energy That includes the street lights that you
specified as being the one on Highway 3 at County Road 42 that had been missing from its base, as well as the lights that were
burned out. The missing street light on Highway 3 was not related to the Progressive Rail project near it or the Steiner
development on the west side of the road. Rather, that street light was knocked down in a vehicle accident a number of months
ago Our Public Works staff had been attempting to get it replaced for the past several months It was finally restored mid -week
last week after renewed urging by the City We have also forwarded the light pole numbers of all burned out street lights to Xcel
and hope to have those functioning again in the near future.
Regarding the uniformity and aesthetics of the appearance of our downtown, I think I can say that the City Council agrees with
you whole heartedly. We have maintained planters in the downtown for a number of years and, again, just last week made
improved plantings Our staff will be working closely with our selected developer and his design consultant to create a design
theme for visual enhancements as our revitalization and redevelopment efforts continue This will likely include the purchase and
placement of new planters, benches and other attractive sight amenities along our downtown streets.
We also appreciate your comments relative to the banners on light poles We are in the process of purchasing new banners.
These banners incorporate the new logo of the City that was approved by the Council this past winter
I want to thank you for the attention, concern and pride that you obviously have for the community in which you live I know,
having spoken with our City Council members, that they appreciated your attendance at our July 5 meeting and that they strongly
encourage feedback from our residents. I will be reporting to the City Council this evening the follow -up actions by Staff and Xcel
Energy as a result of your concerns.
I hope that we have demonstrated responsiveness in addressing your concerns I would be more than happy to discuss these
and any other issues you may have at any time Please always feel free to contact me
