Re: Request for Letter of Support- 2005 Surface Transportation Program
TH 14o Reconstruction (Ti! 55 to I -404), City Project 923
Dear Mr. y, efbrugge:
The City of Eagan is currently preparing an application for the Surface Transportation Program
(STP) of Title I of the reauthonzed Transportation Equity Act for the 21st Century (TEA -21).
The proposed project will reconstruct the existing 4 -lane section on Trunk Highway (TH) 149 to
a 6 -lane section, from its north intersection with TH 55 to Interstate 494 North ramp. A location
map for the project is attached
TH 149 plays an important role in the regional transportation network. A number of communities
south and east of Eagan use TH 149 as an access point to I -494 The proposed project will
increase the capacity of TH 149 to accommodate growth and development within the region.
As the lead agency requesting federal funding, it would be very helpful to the City of Eagan if the
city of Rosemount would provide a letter of support for this project. A letter of support may state
that any portion of the proposed project is included in a 5 -Year Capital Improvement Program
(CEP), funding has been set aside for this project, or there is a potential willingness to participate
in the funding of this project Statements indicating this project's benefit to the overall regional
transportation system would also be appropriate.
I would like to thank you in advance for any support the city of Rosemount can provide in
helping us to obtain funding for this important transportation improvement Please contact me if
you have any questions or would like additional information regarding any portion of this project
Your response is requested pnor to July 22.
Sincerely,
Thomas A. Colbert, P.E.

Re: Letter of Support 2005 Surface Transportation Program
TH 149 Reconstruction (TH 55 to I -494), Eagan City Project 923
Dear Mr. Colbert:
Thank you for this opportunity to support a project of regional significance.
Should you have questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Sincerely,
Jamie Verbrugge
City Administrator
We are writing you m support of the City of Eagan's request for funds through the Surface
Transportation Program (STP) of Title I of the reauthorized Transportation Equity Act for
the 2E' Century (TEA -21) for the reconstruction of TH 149 between TH 55 and I -494 from
a 4 -lane secuon to a 6 -lane secuon.
With the continued growth and development in the region, the continued development of
the region's transportation system is vital to the economic viability of the region. An
expansion of this section of TH 149 as a hnk to I -494 to increase the capacity of TH 149
would benefit the overall regional transportation system
