RECOMMENDED ACTION: MOTION to adopt a resolution approving the ren6'al a
charitable gambling premises permit for the American Legion Post 65 Rosemount, State
license number 1253, at 14590 Burma Avenue West, Rosemount, Minnesota for a two -year
period from September 1, 2005 to August 31, 2007.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
ISSUE
Council is asked to consider a resolution in support of allowing the American Legion Post 65 to maintain
charitable gambling pull-tabs at their club located at 14590 Burma Avenue West.
BACKGROUND
Charitable gambling is controlled by Minnesota Alcohol and Gambling Enforcement. Rosemount City
Council's approval is necessary for the Amencan Legion to proceed with their application for renewal to
the State.
Gambling Manager Ralph Godbey stated that the American Legion is looking forward to providing funds
to charitable organizations locally as m the past. City Ordinance requires 80% of the lawful purpose
expenditures be conducted within the City's trade area, which includes cities with a boundary contiguous
to Rosemount.
SUMMARY
Staff recommends approval of the chantable gambling permit renewal for the American Legion Post 65.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Rosemount,
Dakota County, Minnesota, hereby approves the Lawful Gambling License renewal apphcation
submitted by the American Legion Post 65 Rosemount to conduct charitable gambhng m
Rosemount at the American Legion Post 65 Club, 14590 Burma Avenue West, for the penod
of September 1,2005 to August 31, 2007.
