RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to receive a donation of $5000 from Dakota electric to
be used to promote new business in the community through city marketing
ACTION:
A donation in the amount of $5000 has been received from Dakota Electric to be used for
marketing and technology Last year the grant was used on the Marketing consultant This
year it is expected that the funds will be used to supplement the city marketing program,
particularly economic development initiatives A letter to Dakota Electric is attached for the
Council's information Before an expenditure is made from the Fund, approval will be sought
from the Council

Dear Ms Boyd,
I am writing regarding the Dakota Electric 2005 marketing and communications
$5000 grant for the City of Rosemount As I mentioned when we met, the City
has spent 2004 working on a marketing plan for the community A key
component is the economic development piece We will begin implementation of
the Plan throughout the 2005 year It is expected that the City will begin a direct
marketing campaign to particular business sectors, update and refine the City's
web page, and Initiate some advertising in business journals The marketing
communications grant would be used toward implementation of these economic
development projects, consistent with the adopted Plan
