ISSUE

assets are scheduled to be replaced, and three assets are scheduled to be added.
BACKGROUND
CITY COUNCIL
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
According to the City's current practice for equipment replacement, several Public Works assets are due
for replacement in 2006:
Two of the 1999 Pubhc Works pickups will be rotated into other departments, replacing the Fire
Marshal pickup, and the Park Recreation pickup
The 2000 Toro Groundmaster mower will be traded in for a new 2006 Toro Groundmaster
mower
The 1988 International tractor will be traded in for a new John Deere tractor with cab enclosure
The vehicle hoist will be discarded, making room for a new hoist that is able to lift all large City
vehicles
Due to increasing staff and maintenance requirements, the following assets are proposed to be added to
the City's fleet m 2006:
A' /z ton pickup for the Public Works Supervisor
A "pool vehicle" for Public Works, Engineering and part-time staff
An additional Toro Groundmaster mower to accommodate the additional park and boulevard /trail
mowing created since adding the 2n mower m 1992
SUMMARY
In the past, there has been some discussion about the City's equipment replacement schedule and
practices The attached presentation outlines the current practice for equipment replacement. Staff is
requesting Council direction on the recommended equipment replacements and additions, along with
direction for whether 1) to continue the current practice; or 2) modify the replacement schedule.
