EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
ISSUE
For City Council consideration and approval is a recommendation to approve 2006 stipend increases for
fire officers. The proposed amounts are based on two factors. a companson with other communities with
paid -on -call personnel, and changes of responsibility that have taken place or soon will be taking place. At
Council's direction, money was budgeted for 2006 to cover the cost of these increases to wages.
The amount that an officer receives fot a stipend depends on his /her level of responsibility, type of duties,
and amount of time spent accomplishing the duties beyond that of a firefighter. If approved, 2006 stipend
payments would be as follows:
Fite Chief $9,300
Assistant Fire Chief $4,850
Secretary $2,200
Captain $950
Training Coordinator $800
Lieutenant $400
SUMMARY
The recommended increases are requested due to. external comparisons, a change in duties or
responsibility, and because these positions have not received an increase for 11 years It is now requested
that Council approve the 2006 fire officer stipend
