City Council Regular Meeting March 21, 2006
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
For the third straight year, the Rosemount City Council will seek to recognize some of the thousands of
members of the community who devote their time and effort to volunteer work. The proposed
proclamation would declare the week of April 24' through the 28t as National Volunteer Week in
Rosemount. In the words of the proposed proclamation, "the City of Rosemount, Minnesota benefits
greatly from the volunteer efforts of its citizens to meet social needs," and "volunteermg promotes
fellowship and unity, as well as increased community awareness and the maintenance of [Rosemount's]
quality of life."
As part of the observance, the City Council is asking the public to make nominations of volunteers in
Rosemount who can be honored durmg the regular meeting of the Council nearest to Volunteer Week.
That meeting will occur on April 18 The Council wants to bring public recognition to those who can
"inspire us by example." Both individuals and enure groups can be nominated. Residents who can share
nominations with us should telephone City Hall by March 31 Details are on the City website in the
"News" section.

PROCLAMATION
ADMINISTRATION
WHEREAS, the City of Rosemount, Minnesota benefits greatly from the volunteer efforts of its
citizens to meet social needs;
WHEREAS, volunteering promotes fellowship and unity, as well as increased community
awareness and the maintenance of the quality of life;
WHEREAS, based on federal surveys, it is likely that more than 4,600 Rosemount residents
take part in volunteer work, putting time and energy to work in ways that can reduce the burden
on taxpayers;
WHEREAS, the Rosemount City Council plans for the third straight year to recognize during
April volunteers nominated by the public;
THEREFORE, as Mayor of the City of Rosemount, I hereby do proclaim that we celebrate the
thousands of volunteers in our community and across the country by proclaiming April 24
through 28 as National Volunteer Week.
