Brotzler, P.E., City Engineer AGEN ATTACHMENTS: Resolution, Map APPROVED BY: RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to Adopt a Resolution Receiving Plans and Specifications and Authorizing Advertisement of Bids for the 2006 Pedestrian Facility Improvements, City Project #400. 4 ROSEMOUNT City Council Meeting: April 4, 2006 BACKGROUND: On November 15, 2005, Council authorized the preparation of plans and specifications for the above referenced project The proposed improvements include replacement of existing bituminous trails with sidewalk, new bituminous trail construction, and new sidewalk construction A brief review of the proposed improvements is as follows o Reconstruction of a portion of existing bituminous trail along the east side of Shannon Parkway from Connemara Trail to 13604 Shannon Parkway. This segment is proposed to be replaced with new eight -foot concrete sidewalk. o Construction of a new eight -foot bituminous trail on the west side of certain segments of Shannon Parkway. These segments are between Cranberry Path and 141" Street Court West, Dander Court and Connemara Trail, and Daffodil Path and 133` Court West. O Reconstruction of existing bituminous trails on the south side of 153 Street West, between Shannon Parkway and Claret Avenue, and also the south side of 155` Street West, between Shannon Parkway and Chippendale Avenue. These segments are proposed to be replaced with new five -foot concrete sidewalk. o Construction of a new five -foot concrete sidewalk on the east side of Claret Avenue between Cornell Trail and 153` Street West. The estimated project cost for the improvements proposed to be completed is $390,230. This cost will be funded with encumbered funds, 2006 Pedestrian Improvement Funds, and Park Dedication Funds. Park and Recreation Department Staff will also be preparing and submitting apphcations for grant monies, with any moues received being used to reduce the necessary Park Dedication funding level. Homeowners will not be assessed for these improvements. SUMMARY: CITY COUNCIL EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Staff recommends that Council receive the plans and specifications and authorize the advertising of bids for the 2006 Pedestrian Facility Improvements, City Project #400. G \ENGPROJ \400 \RecPLSpc- AFBCC4406 doc CITY OF ROSEMOUNT DAKOTA COUNTY, MINNESOTA RESOLUTION 2006 A RESOLUTION RECEIVING THE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND AUTHORIZING ADVERTISEMENT OF BIDS FOR 2006 PEDESTRIAN FACILITY IMPROVEMENTS CITY PROJECT #400 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Rosemount have ordered the preparation of plans and specifications for the 2006 Pedestrian Facility Improvements, City Project #400 and such plans and specifications have been presented to this Council for approval: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Rosemount, Minnesota: 1. Such plans and specifications are hereby approved and ordered placed on file in the office of the City Clerk. 2. The City Clerk shall prepare and cause to be inserted in the official City newspaper and the Construction Bulletin an advertisement for bids upon the making of such improvements under such approved plans and specifications fot City Project #400. 3. The advertisement shall be published in each of said publications at least once not less than three (3) weeks before the date set for opening bids, shall specify the work to be done, shall state the bids will be publicly opened on April 28, 2006 at 10:00 o'clock a m. at the Rosemount City Hann said City and that no bids will be considered unless sealed and filed with the City Clerk and accompanied by a cash deposit, cashier's check, bid bond or certified check payable to the City Clerk for five (5 percent of the amount of such bid.
