EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
ISSUE
A GIS Technician position was approved in the 2006 Operating Budget with an anticipated hiring date of
early 2006.

BACKGROUND
A selection process for this position was conducted in which 24 applications were received.
SUMMARY
After completion of the selection process, staff recommends that Mr. Thomas (17) Thurlow be hired as
GIS Technician for the Rosemount's Community Development Department Thurlow spent two years
taking classes m computer science, graduated with a Bachelor's Degree m Geography, and soon will be
completing his Master's in GIS. He has worked for the City of Brainerd and Crow Wing County as an
intern and currently works for the U of MN as a Windows /Mac Systems Administrator.
It is anticipated that Thomas will begin working for the City of Rosemount within three weeks pending
Council approval and negative results from his pre employment drug screen.
