Brotzler, P.E City Engineer AGEN l li ATTACHMENTS: Resolution, Location Site Maps APPROVED BY: Z RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to Adopt a Resolution Receiving Plans and Specifications and Authorizing Advertisement of Bids for the Glendalough 7th Street Utility Improvements, City Project #401 ',ROSEMOUNT City Council Meeting: May 2, 2006 CITY COUNCIL EXECUTIVE SUMMARY ISSUE: Adopt a resolution receiving plans and specifications and authorizing advertisement for bids for the Glendalough 7'' Street and Utility Improvements, City Project #401 BACKGROUND: On February 7, 2006, Council authorized the preparation of plans and specifications for the above referenced project. The plans and specifications address the construcuon of street and utility improvements necessary for the development of Evermoor's Glendalough 7 Addition, a continuation of the Evermoor Glendalough neighborhood. The development is located along the north side of Connemara Trail and west of Dodd Boulevard, and the Glendalough Additions are located m the northeast corner of the Evermoor tract. The Glendalough 7th Addition is the next phase of the development to be completed, and is comprised of 32 single- family residential units The proposed improvements include the construction of city streets that include concrete curb and gutter and 5 -foot concrete sidewalks 8 -foot bituminous pathways will also be constructed as part of adjacent park facilities. Utility improvements include the construction of lateral sarutary sewer mains; watermam, lateral storm sewer systems, and a regional storm sewer lift station and force main system. The funding for the lateral public improvements will be collected from the developer, Lundgren Brothers Construction, and will fund 100% of project costs for streets, sanitary sewer, watermam, and storm sewer. Construction of the storm sewer lift station and force main system will be shared between Lundgren Brothers Construction and Storm Sewer Trunk Funds, with Qty funds covering over- sizing pro -rated by percentage of contributing drainage area A copy of the plans and specifications is on file m the Engineering Department. SUMMARY: Staff recommends that Council receive the plans and specifications and authorize the advertising of bid for the project G \ENGPROJ \401 \RecervePISpAFBCC5 -2- 06_401 doc CITY OF ROSEMOUNT DAKOTA COUNTY, MINNESOTA RESOLUTION 2006 A RESOLUTION RECEIVING THE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND AUTHORIZING ADVERTISEMENT OF BIDS FOR GLENDALOUGH 7 111 STREET UTILITY IMPROVEMETNS CITY PROJECT #401 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Rosemount have ordered the preparation of plans and specifications for the Glendalough 7th Street Utihty Improvements, City Project #401and such plans and specifications have been presented to this Council for approval. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Rosemount, Minnesota: 1. Such plans and specifications are hereby approved and ordered placed on file in the office of the City Clerk. 2. The City Clerk shall prepare and cause to be inserted in the official City newspaper and the Construction Bulletin an advertisement for bids upon the making of such umprovements under such approved plans and specifications for City Project #401. 3. The advertisement shall be pubhshed in each of said pubhcations at least once not less than three (3) weeks before the date set for opening bids, shall specify the work to be done, shall state the bids will be pubhcly opened on May 31, 2006 at 10:00 o'clock a.m. at the Rosemount City Hall in said City and that no bids will be considered unless sealed and filed with the City Clerk and accompanied by a cash deposit, cashier's check, bid bond or certified check payable to the City Clerk for five (5 percent of the amount of such bid.
