The competition judges presented the City of Rosemount an award for Minnesota's best economic development marketing campaign. EDAM serves econorruc development professionals throughout Minnesota. It has more than 450 members who represent private enterpnse, local and regional economic development agencies, chambers of commerce, and utilities The "Edie" awards are giving annually at the EDAM Summer Conference to recognize individuals or organizations that deserve recognition for outstanding economic achievement. In their summary of Rosemount's accomphshments, the judges noted that the project included an effort by all departments, initiated by the City Council, to develop a marketing /communication campaign. The campaign's goal was to upgrade the image of the community and provide more direct marketmg to the business community. EDAM noted that the campaign created a new logo for the City, the new theme message "Sport of Pride and Progress," new City brochures, and target marketing. The target marketing included mailings to more than 200 leading developers plus companies in specific target market industries such as health care One important mailing included a video presentation on DVD funded by the Rosemount Port Authority to show the strengths and opportunities available for business in the community. City Administrator Verbrugge and Community Development Director Lindquist accepted the award for Rosemount during the EDAM summer conference last month. The president of the Association, Rebecca Kurtz of Ehlers and Associates, is expected to be present for tonight's Council meeting.
