City Council Meeting. October 3, 2006
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
ISSUE:
Engineering Staff has determined a need for a Streetlight Policy to ensure the safety and welfare of the
City's residents, to promote an aesthetically pleasing and consistent lighting system, and to provide clear,
concise guidelines for future development projects.
BACKGROUND:
Before developing a Streetlight Policy for the City of Rosemount, Engineering Staff reviewed the policies
and procedures of several surrounding communities Each of the cities responding to our inquiry (Eagan,
Farmington, Hastings, Inver Grove Heights, Lakeville, Mendota Heights, Northfield and South St. Paul)
have general guidelines governing the placement of streetlights in new developments, with four of those
cities having formal Streetlight Policies
This proposed Streetlight Policy for the City of Rosemount will help eliminate lighting inconsistencies in
the future, and will help ensure a safe, aesthetically pleasing enviionment for all residents.
SUMMARY:
