EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
ISSUE
During the City Council Work Session on September 13, Council gave staff direction to recruit a wide
variety of community members to form a task force to review and make a recommendation regarding the
reuse of the old St. Joseph's Church and School buildings
BACKGROUND
At the City Council Work Session in August, there was discussion about the composition and process for
forming a task force to discuss the final disposition of the St. Joseph's Church and School buildings
Durmg that meeting the City Council made it clear that they wanted the church to stay m place and that
they wanted to carefully review the possibility of also reusing the school building.
At the September work session meeting, staff presented to the City Council a proposed hst of groups,
organizations, businesses and residents that could be represented. Staff also detailed a one year process
that would be undertaken to come up with short and long term plans that would detail the best use for the
buildings m the future.
SUMMARY
The City Council recently approved the composition of the St. Joseph's Church Task Force to include:
2 City Council Members
1 Planning Commissioner
1 Dakota County Representative
2 St. Joseph's Representatives
6 At -Large Citizen Representatives
1 Parks and Recreation Commissioner
1 Port Authority Commissioner
1 Rosemount School Representative
2 Neighborhood Representatives
2 Business Representatives
Staff would ask for the City Council to discuss forwarding the names of two City Council members to be
considered for appointment to the St. Joseph's Church Task Force.
