City Council Work Session November 15, 2006
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
ISSUE
The City Council needs to discuss choosing two City Council members to serve on the St. Joseph's
Church Task Force
The City Council should discuss an interview process for those people who wish to serve on the task force
to represent neighborhood residents, at -large residents or a Rosemount business.
BACKGROUND
At the City Council Work Session in August 2006, there was discussion about the composition and
process for forming a task force to discuss the final disposition of the St Joseph's Church and School
buildings During that meeting, the City Council made it clear that they wanted the church to stay in place
and they also wanted to carefully review the possibihty of reusing the school building.
At the September 2006 work session meeting, staff presented to the City Council a proposed hst of
groups, organizations, busmesses and residents that could be represented. Staff also detailed a one year
process that would be undertaken to come up with short and long term plans that would detail the best
use for the buildings in the future.
Following the staff presentation at the September work session, the Council gave staff direction to recruit
a wide variety of community members to form a task force to review and to make a recommendation
regarding the reuse of the old St. Joseph's Church and School buildings.
