ATTACHMENTS: None APPROVED BY: RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to approve appointing the people listed in the executive summary to the St Joseph's Facility Task Force. 4 ROSEMOUNT CITY COUNCIL City Council Regular Meeting: December 5, 2006 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY ISSUE In August of 2006, the City Council gave staff direction to recruit a wide variety of community members to form a task force to review and make a recommendation regarding the reuse of the old St Joseph's Church and School buildings Staff have received a number of apphcanons to serve on the task force. BACKGROUND At the City Council work session in August, there was discussion about the composition and process for forming a task force to discuss the final dispostnon of the St Joseph's Church and School buildings. Dunng that meeting the City Council made it clear that they wanted the church to stay in place and that they wanted to carefully review the possibility of also reusing the school building. At the September work session, staff presented to the City Council a proposed hst of groups, organizations, businesses and residents that could be represented Staff also detailed a one year process that would be undertaken to come up with short and long term plans that would detail the best use for the buildings in the future. Staff recruited applicants by pubhshing press releases in local papers, fisting the opportunity on the City's web site, and direct mailings to neighborhood residents and community businesses. SUMMARY During the work session on November 15, 2006, staff provided the City Council with a hst of individuals who had either applied or were recommended to serve on the St Joseph's Facility Task Force Following the discussions regarding the task force, it was recommended that all of those who submitted an apphcauon to serve on the task force should be appointed Staff also has the names submitted by groups which the City Council asked to be represented on this task force.
