City Council Work Session Meeting: December '13, 2006
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
DISCUSSION
On November 7, 2006 the City Council approved a proposal for a Transit Plan. As part of the
discussion staff mentioned the concept of having an advisory committee to assist in this endeavor.
The idea would be that this committee, comprised of one person from the Council, Planning
Commission, and Utility Commission, would be brought together on a somewhat formal basis to
review the scope and progress of the work being undertaken This group would assist m evaluating
the draft report. It is expected that the group would be brought together at the beginning and end of
the study and potentially once or twice during the middle. Staff would like to use this smaller group
as a sounding board before taking the draft report to the Council and other interested parties.
There had been some indication that the Council may choose to include additional representatives
on the Task Force. If that is the wish of the Council, staff would like to get additional direction as to
what group(s) should be represented and ideas on how they would be chosen. WSB and staff are
interested in having the first meeting of the group some time in January and would need to obtain
this additional representation relatively quickly.
A representative from the Planning Commission has already been chosen, Val Schultz. The Utility
Comnussion will be choosing someone at their meeting on the 18t The Council should also choose
their representative so the formal appointment could occur at the Council meeting on the 19`
CONCLUSION
Staff is requesting the Council provide additional direction regarding the composition of the Task
Force and to appoint a member of the Council to the Task Force.
