EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
DISCUSSION
For the last several years the City has been presenting the Employee of the Year award. Alan
Strand of the Community Development Department was recently chosen as the Employee of the
Year. Alan was nominated for his superb work as the Chief Building Official but also recognized
for his work above and beyond the normal course of duty. This year he functioned as the project
manager for the Fire Station 2 construction project as well as the City Hall remodeling project.
He has assisted in the leasing of the City owned Genz Ryan building, by showing the space to
prospective tenants, providing keys and garage door openers, and sorting out tenant utility needs
by working with City and private utility personnel.
Alan is the direct supervisor to three building inspectors. He is a diligent worker who leads by
example and is always willing to help out. He is a good problem solver who works well with
other departments, especially engineering and public works to get his job done. He embodies the
goals of the department, City and the adopted Core Values in his work.
Alan will be in attendance at the meeting.
