EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Rosemount High School Marching Band has a long history of excellence that culminated in the fall
with the band's victory at the Youth In Music Marching Band Championship to Minneapolis. The
Rosemount band won the award for Minnesota State Champion Marching Band along with recogmtion
for Outstanding Winds and Outstanding Color Guard.
The state championship was merely the latest honor among the band's accomplishments. It also earned
first place honors m three events at other metro schools, and a regional competition in Sioux Falls, South
Dakota. Rosemount also competed with 51 of the nation's best marching bands at the Bands of America
event in St. Louis in October. The Rosemount band progressed past the opening round and placed
seventh.
Rosemount band members serve as ambassadors for the community's message of pride and progress.
And neatly 100 of the members will carry that message this spring as they tour China to perform for new
audiences.
Band director Steve Olsen is expected to attend the meeting and introduce representatives from the band
to accept the Council's commendation.
