ISSUE:
Consider scheduled equipment replacement for 2007.
BACKGROUND:
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Staff is requesting Council authorization to purchase equipment scheduled m the 2007 Capital
Improvement Plan (CIP) that is identified to be purchased with equipment certificates. As shown on the
attached 2007 CIP, four items are scheduled to be purchased with equipment certificates.
1. Two Inspection vehicles (replace #612 and #613)
These are the Ford Focus vehicles utilized by the Building Division within Community Development.
These vehicles were purchased in 2000 and have approximately 35,000 miles each. At this tune, based on
Staff discussions and the attached evaluauons, the vehicles axe not proposed to be replaced In lieu of the
replacement of vehicles #612 and #613, Staff is proposmg to replace vehicle #602 previously used by the
Code Enforcement position. This vehicle was disposed by the City in 2006 and was a former squad car
with 120,000 miles and a failed transmission.
2. Pickup (replace #344)
This 1 -ton pickup with dump box was originally scheduled to be replaced in accordance with the City's
vehicle replacement practice. Based on the attached evaluation, this vehicle is in good condition. It is not
proposed to be replaced at this time and will be reviewed m future years
3. Sweeper (replace #443)
Item #443 is a Pehcan sweeper that was purchased m March 1997. Based on the City's replacement
schedule and the attached evaluation of the item, Staff is recommending the replacement of this item.

Staff recommends Council authorization for the purchase of an mspection vehicle and street sweeper, and
the procurement of fmancmg.
