CITY COUNCIL
City Council Regular Meeting: January 4, 2011
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Rosemount continues to reap a bumper crop of Boy Scouts who master the skills that qualify them as
Eagle Scouts. The designation is the highest advancement rank for Boy Scouts, and nationally only five
percent of Scouts achieve this goal. In the words of the Eagle Scout Promise,
[Y]ou do your best each day to make your training and example, your rank and your influence
count strongly for better Scouting and for better citizenship in your troop, in your community, and
in your contacts with other people. And to this you pledge your sacred honor.
The City Council tonight continues its tradition of honoring these accomplishments by commending a
Scout from Rosemount who recently achieved the Eagle rank.
Jonathan Bishop is a senior at Rosemount High School. Jonathan's major service project was to
create the first catalog ever attempted of military veterans' graves at St. Joseph Cemetery in
Rosemount. He used a GPS device to survey all the graves, returning to the task after several
families stepped forward to say that their relatives' military status did not appear in the original
cemetery records. His listing revealed a little more than 100 resting places for veterans and was
turned over to our American Legion post. Jonathan plans to attend Winona State University to
study physical therapy and perhaps play a little collegiate baseball.
