City Council Special Meeting: March 29, 2011
AGENDA ITEM: Volunteer Opportunities A END
BACKGROUND
Over. the past two months, the Council has interviewed many talented individuals for both the opening on
the City Council as well as for City Commissions. Many of the residents have backgrounds and experience
that could be valuable to the City even though they may not have been selected for the specific opening.
At the end of the Commission interviews last week, council members directed that this discussion be
placed on this agenda to see what options we may have for making use of the many talented people who
applied for City Council or City Commission openings.
One specific thought last week was that some of the individuals with background in economic
development related, areas could be invited to the planned April 19th economic development strategy
session to be held after the regular council meeting that evening. Overall, the range of options includes
everything from one-time events to ongoing task forces or advisory committees.
