CITY COUNCIL
City Council Regular Meeting: January 18, 2011
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Effective last month, Kurt Bills resigned from the Rosemount City Council to prepare for his new position
representing the community in the Minnesota House of Representatives. Rep. Bills won his seat on the
Council out of a large field of candidates in the 2008 election. He brought his expertise as a teacher of
college -level economics to the task of helping create budgets for City operations that led to a tax cut for
owners of the median -priced home in Rosemount for each of the past two years. He drew on his
additional expertise as a former coach to contribute to an atmosphere of teamwork on the Council and in
the rest of City government.
Rep. Bills also served on the board of the Rosemount Port Authority, pushing to position the community
for economic development. And he took the lead role coordinating charity activities supported by the
Council during Leprechaun Days, including a golf tournament that he originated, to meet the need for
food shelf contributions.
His legacy to the City also includes the City's Youth Commission. Rep. Bills was instrumental in the
creation of the Youth Commission and served as its advisor and Council liaison.
In the words on the plaque we will present:
In appreciation of
Kurt Bills
