EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Thousands of Minnesota students have benefited from participation during their school years in the 4 -H
youth development program. From its origins serving rural Americans, 4 -H has grown to serve thousands
of communities, large and small. It aims to enable youth to emerge as leaders through hands -on learning,
research -based 4 -H youth programs, and adult mentorship, in order to give back to their local
communities. The program operates in Dakota County with the support of the University of Minnesota
Extension Service.
Students who take part in 4 -H can apply for the Key Award, which is provided to members of high- school
age who have taken part in the organization for five years and who complete at least seven of nine
requirements related to leadership and community service. This year, four Rosemount students have
achieved the 4 -H Key Award:
Charlie Broback, of the Happy Go Getters 4 -H club,
Sara Devitt, of the Dakota Explorers 4 -H club,
Allison Hawkins, of the 4 -Force 4 -H club, and
Hanna Hawkins, of the Dakota Whisperers 4 -H Club
