ISSUE
Staff and the City's design consultants have finished the development design phase of the UMore Ballfield
project. The current plan for the complex is included in the packet. The plan includes four fields that can
be used for either fast pitch softball or youth baseball youth. Also included in the layout is a baseball field
that would serve older players who would not be able to play on the four fields previously mentioned. The
exact size of the large field has not yet been determined. There is some flexibility for this field to serve
players who are 13 years old through adults.
As mentioned at previous meetings, staff is recommending the complex built be in phases, based on what
funding sources are available. We are in the process of completing the phasing plan and will present the
plan to the City Council in the near future. Staff expects that the phasing plan will be decided on this fall
and that the plans and specifications could be worked on over the winter, allowing for a spring
improvement project.
If the City Council is in support of the current plan, staff feels it would be advantageous for the City to use
the in -kind grading donation from SKB to grade the entire site for future development. Grading could be
done this fall and does not obligate the City to make any infrastructure improvements, but allows for us to
quickly start the improvements when we are ready.
Staff would like for the Council to discuss the site plan and provide feedback on the idea of grading this
fall.
