EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
ISSUE
Concession vendors coming to the City of Rosemount Leprechaun Days event are required to obtain
electrical permits from the State of Minnesota. Due to the state shutdown, the State will not be able
to issue permits The City can also issue permits, although typically concessioners would obtain a
permit from the State as it would be good for one year throughout the State. Rosemount permits are
only good in Rosemount.
DISCUSSION
This year, due to the State shutdown, the vendors coming to Leprechaun Days will not be able to
obtain their permits through the state. Staff is recommending that the City issue the permits and
reduce the fee to be consistent with the usual State fee. Currently, the City charges $55.00 for an
electrical permit, while the State fee is $35.00. The resolution attached would modify the fee for
electrical permits associated with Leprechaun Days only.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Council approve a resolution reducing the fee for electrical permits
associated with Leprechaun Days from $55.00 to $35.00.

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE REDUCTION OF FEES
FOR ELECTRICAL PERMITS TO CONCESSION VENDORS
FOR THE 2011 LEPRECHAUN DAYS EVENTS
WHEREAS, concession vendors that come to the annual City of Rosemount Leprechaun Days
event typically obtain electrical permits from the State of Minnesota; and
WHEREAS, due to the Minnesota State shutdown, those concession vendors will have to obtain
electrical permits from the City; and
WHEREAS, the fee for electrical permit from the State of Minnesota is currently $35.00; and
WHEREAS, the City of Rosemount currently charges $55.00 for an electrical permit; and
WHEREAS, the City of Rosemount would like to temporarily reduce the current charge of
$55.00 to $35.00 to match the fee the vendors would normally have to pay the State of Minnesota.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that City staff may charge $35.00 for an electrical
permit for vendors participating in the City's Leprechaun Days events scheduled from July 23,
2011, through July 31, 2011.
ADOPTED this 19 day of July, 2011, by the City Council of the City of Rosemount.
