Droste, Mayor AGENDA NO. a• ATTACHMENTS: None APPROVED BY: RECOMMENDED ACTION: Award commendation Rosemount High School has had substantial success in the last few seasons for the quality of its swimming team. Tonight the City Council welcomes back a member of the team who has once again achieved a state championship in the sport. Devon Meeks won the Minnesota Class AA title in the 50 -yard freestyle event this March, a successful defense of the same title he won last year. Along with that high achievement, Meeks also finished state runner -up in the 100 -yard backstroke and was part of Rosemount's second -place team in the 200 -yard freestyle relay and the school's third -place team in the 200 -yard medley relay. The performance at the state tournament is the capstone of his swimming career at RHS. Devon either holds or is part of five Irish school records. He was part of an Irish swim team that was the conference champion the past two years. The team was undefeated the past two seasons in the Lake Conference and also won the team title at the section swim meet the past two years. The Irish placed third the past two years at the state True Team meet and placed fourth and fifth the past two years at the state meet. Devon will be attending the University of Iowa as a student - athlete this fall.
